Located in Howell, MI, convenient to I-96 & US-23, Sterling is a full service equestrian facility featuring sixteen acres, a twenty-six stall barn, an indoor and outdoor arena, and a ¼ mile track.
In 15 years of business, Sterling Training Center has trained over fifty National & World Champion horses & riders. These titles range from Ladies English Pleasure to Saddle Seat Equitation to Hunter Pleasure, Hunt Seat Equitation and Reining Seat Equitation.
We firmly believe that each horse and rider are unique, requiring our very close attention to detail. Once we spend time with a new horse &/or rider, we tailor a program specifically designed to set our team up for success in the show ring.
Our job is to ensure the best care and training for your horses. Our staff takes great pride in the care and comfort of each and every horse. Training services include training six days per week, two lessons per week on your show horse, work tack, grooming, clipping, liniments, ointments, and bustling, if required. Turnout is also included if it fits into your horses’ training program.
We feed a beautiful alfalfa grassy mixed hay, 12 % sweet feed, & Strongid C2X daily wormer. Additional supplements may be supplied and fed at an additional fee. Sterling is also equipped with an indoor fly system know as Shoo-Fly.
All horses must have a suitable leather halter. Owners may also be asked to purchase blankets, sheets, bustles, bridles, saddles, etc. We will always discuss the need for new items with each customer before we purchase.
We take pride in the fact that we have the best blacksmith and vets who play an integral role in the training and well-being of your horses. Specialty vet services are provided by Woodford Vet Clinic in Versailles, KY. The staff travels to Michigan in the spring and fall and consults with us on a regular basis. Locally, we use Kern Road Vet Clinic for routine and emergency situations. They are located within nine miles and have a large staff of educated vets.
